Billy McDonald Homes are scattered all across our local community. We’ve built in such prestigious locations as Oak Run, Hunter’s Creek, Gardens of Hunter’s Creek, Northwoods, Southbank, River Chase, Loma Verde, Palace Heights, Fallen Oak, Texas Country Estates, TBarM, and Havenwood. We’ve also built homes at Canyon Lake and in Marion. We strive to stay within the New Braunfels area, because it is a BMH policy to be on the site as much as possible. If you own property in any area within Guadalupe/Comal County, check with us to see if we build in your chosen location. We don’t like to say no, so we encourage you to ask us for a bid.

Will you build on my lot?

Yes, we will be happy to build on your lot, provided there are no restrictions to keep us from building in that particular subdivision. Some subdivisions are builder-owned, so be sure to ask about that before you buy land. If you have already purchased the land, we will go to the site with you to determine your next step.

How long has BMH been in business?

Billy McDonald has been in construction since the early 1970s. We have been building in this area since 1984. We are a family business building family-oriented homes. You can read more on the “About Us” page.

How does Billy McDonald Homes differ from their competitors?

We make it our policy to limit the number of homes we are building to a small amount, so we can be on the job to better serve you. We do not attempt to compete with other companies to put enormous amounts of homes on the market, as our focus is merely on doing the best possible job we know how for each and every customer. We’re the “hometown” builder—a local company. We allow our customers to personalize our homes to their needs, and we are right there with them throughout the entire process. We are friendly and highly motivated, and we always put your needs first. We not only build in this community, but we live here, as well, so our reputation is a primary concern. We want only satisfied customers.

Will my home be energy efficient?

Yes, it will. BMH only uses top-quality materials and products to provide you with an energy efficient home. We use high efficiency (13-16) SEER Trane heat pump heating and air units. Windows are insulated Low-E and we use a ridge ventilation system. Fiberglass R-38 blown insulation is used in the attic and fiberglass R-13 in walls, with a polyseal package included. Insulation is placed between all bedroom and living area walls and around plumbing and bath fixtures as well.

What types of homes does BMH build?

We build most any type and size requested. We have built ranch style, country, traditional, Southwestern, Mediterranean, Tuscan, French and European, and many others. We have no restrictions on square footage. Whether you want a small, cozy cottage or an exquisite mansion on top of the town, we are ready to work with you to create an environment to showcase your lifestyle.

How long does it take to construct our new home?

This is the million dollar question, isn’t it? There are so many factors that go into determining the exact amount of time it takes to build a home, but rest assured, we will do the best we can to get you into your new home as soon as possible. We understand your excitement. Typically, it takes from 4-6 months to build a small to average sized home, and from 6-8 months to finish larger ones. Of course, we have no control over the weather or any other unforeseen factors, but this is a general timeline for building.

Where do we make our interior and exterior selections?

We prefer to use our local suppliers. New Braunfels has an outstanding selection of the most up-to-date decorating items. We have long-standing relationships with most of the area businesses, and can work to get you the best possible prices through our builder’s discounts. We will provide you with a list of suppliers as you are making your selections. However, if you choose to go outside of the area to bring in some of your selections, we will work to accommodate you.

If we do not use all the money allotted in our contract price, is it returned to us?

Yes, homeowners build in allowances at contract time. Any monies not used will be credited back prior to closing. We constantly update our buyers as to how and where the money is being used, and we diligently work to keep our customers at or under budget. It is more common than not for our clients to walk away with money credited back to them. More than that…from the moment you move into your new home, your investment has built-in equity working in your favor!

Am I welcome to visit my house as it is being built?

Yes, absolutely! It is often helpful for the owner to come by in the late afternoon or on weekends so we can discuss options and upcoming needs. If I am not personally on the job, my subcontractors or other family members will be more than happy to answer your questions or forward any concerns. We will have many scheduled meetings at the job site, throughout the building process, to be sure everything is coming together exactly as you wish.
